It was not exactly the day the Lincoln Blue Tigers wanted Saturday in Day 2 of the MIAA track and field outdoor championships at Dwight T. Reed Stadium. The Blue Tigers got 19 qualifiers through the preliminary rounds and into today’s finals and collected a few points in the men’s and women’s long jump, but it was not the dominant day Lincoln wanted, especially in a meet at its home track.
The Lincoln track and field teams competed Friday in both the Arkansas Qualifier and the Illinois College Hilltop Invite.
The Lincoln Blue Tigers will have several athletes in action at the NCAA Division II outdoor track and field national championships, which begin today and continue through Saturday at Grand Valley State in Allendale, Mich. Heading into the national championships, both Lincoln teams are ranked in the top 10 in Division II by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The men are ranked No. 7 and the women are ranked No. 8.

The men finished third out of 10 teams with 96 points, while the women also placed third out of 12 teams with 93 points in the final standings. The Lincoln women won five conference titles and the men won four.
