At the Jan. 20 meeting, the Huntley Area Public Library board decided to extend the library's current closing period to up to Monday, Feb. 7. Additional time is needed to complete the building program. This decision was based from a few factors. The first was a roof issue that needs to be addressed at once. The second is a supply chain issue with some of the equipment and furniture needed in the renovated library.

Huntley Area Public Library, which is wrapping up its two-year building program, is set to fully open to the public on Monday, Jan. 24.

Two were injured following a single vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Sanilac County's Bridgehampton Township. According to Sanilac County Sheriff's Deputies, a car driven by a 55-year old Sandusky woman failed to stop at a stop sign at Sanilac and Ruth Road and entered a ditch to the south of the intersection. The driver and her 31 year passenger were extricated from the vehicle by Carsonville Fire Department crews. They were taken to area hospitals for treatment of undisclosed injuries and deputies say dense fog is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
