Botanic garden vision seeks Palmerston North rates support

The Massey University Foundation has pitched an ambitious botanic garden plan to the Palmerston North City Council, asking ratepayers for a cool $300,000 in seeding money. Foundation director Mitch Murdoch led a presentation to the council’s long-term plan hearing, describing the proposed botanic garden as the first of its kind in New Zealand. Urban eels sanctuary draws in more tuna to the Manawatū awa
But with collaboration between Horizons Regional Council, Gordon Consulting and Palmerston North City Council, strides have been made to protect and encourage the growth of tuna in Rangitāne's rohe. Te Ao Turoa environmental officer for Te Mauri o Rangitāne o Manawatū Tanenuiarangi Manawatū Incorporated Paul Horton said it had been an overwhelming success.
