On Feb. 5, Florida State University graduate student Michael Benarde will appear on ABC’s Shark Tank to pitch his product NightCap, a drink spiking prevention cup cover designed to look like a scrunchie.
The idea for NightCap came to Benarde’s sister Shirah in a dream, and she immediately began working on a prototype. When Bernarde returned home from college for the summer, they began working together on turning the prototype into something real.
That was over a year and a half ago. Now, NightCap has sold over 10,000 units and has close to 120,000 followers on the social media platform Tik Tok.
