TVS Motor Company unveiled its flagship electric two-wheeler, simply called TVS X, at an event in Dubai on August 23. Customers can pre-book the scooter for a refundable amount of INR5,000. Deliveries will start in India around Diwali.
TVS X: Launched at INR 2.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru), the TVS new EV comes with a 4.44kWh dual battery pack. With a host of new technology offerings, the company is targeting the Gen-Z and sees X as leading its premium growth strategy in India and international markets. Further, it aims to become a global mobility firm and plans to introduce multiple EV products by the next year and a half. Currently, about 20% of TVS scooters sales are electric, which is expected to double in the next two years.

With a market share of 22% in July, TVS Motor is Indias second largest two-wheeler EV company after Ola Electric. The company has invested close to Rs 250 crore on the development of TVS X. It has guided for a capital expenditure of Rs 900-1,000 crore for the current fiscal year of which a bulk of investment would be in EV products. It sold nearly one lakh EV scooters in FY23 and 47,102 units in the first four months of the current fiscal year in India according to Vahan data.
