Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal tabled the historic bill in the upper house and called it “a bill towards women empowerment.” BJP president JP Nadda and Congress party president Mallikarjun Kharge engaged in a heated argument in Rajya Sabha over the implementation of the bill. The reservation bill was passed in Lok Sabha on Wednesday with an overwhelming majority, 27 years after it was first presented in the parliament.

Rajya Sabha Passes Womens Reservation Bill: The motion was adopted by the Upper House with all 214 MPs present and voting in its favour.

Rajya Sabha Clears Womens Reservation Bill: The Prime Minister also congratulated 140 crore Indians and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all Rajya Sabha MPs who voted for the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam. 

Rajya Sabha, on Thursday passed the Women's Reservation Bill with all the 215 members voting in favour of the bill.
