The National Conference (NC) has expressed its support for the Women Reservation Bill, stating that it has no objection to its implementation. Omar Abdullah, the party's vice president, emphasized that the NC has previously implemented women reservation in panchayats and other areas. He also mentioned that the party has numerous capable female leaders who can stand in elections on reserved seats.
The government on Tuesday listed the women's reservation bill in the Lok Sabha to provide one-third reservation to women in the Lower House of Parliament, state assemblies and the Delhi legislative assembly.
The bill be named Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.
The women's reservation bill has proposed that the reservation would continue for a period of 15 years and there will be quota for SC and STs within the reserved seats for women.The legislation however is unlikely to be implemented in the 2024 ...
