Southwest Florida awards went to projects in Lee, Collier, Charlotte, DeSoto, Glades, Hendry and Highlands counties. The projects ranged from $63,311 to add 1.1 miles of fiber optic cable in Bokeelia to $4.75 million to bring high speed internet service to eastern Hendry County. Other communities involved included Lehigh Acres in Lee County, Punta Gorda in Charlotte County and Orangetree and Golden Gate Estates in Collier County.
