A VAN driver has sustained 'serious' injuries after colliding with a HGV on the A550 Welsh Road. The road remains closed southbound due to the collision - which occurred between A540 Parkgate Road (Two Mills Traffic Lights, Two Mills) and A494 (Shotwick / Birkenhead Turn Off, Shotwick) at roughly 9.45am on Wednesday.  Cheshire Police said the collision between the van and HGV caused the van to be knocked off the road into a ravine, with its driver sustaining serious, but non-life threatening injuries. THE A550 Welsh Road is currently closed both ways due to multiple issues caused by a "raised manhole". Traffic reports state that there is queueing traffic due to a collision and a "raised manhole cover" between A540 Parkgate Road (Two Mills Traffic Lights) and A494 (Shotwick / Birkenhead Turn Off). The road was initially partially blocked due to multiple breakdowns caused by the raised manhole cover, however a collision has since occurred within the traffic resulting in the road being closed.
