Erin Laymen, RN, of Dundee, a nurse in obstetrics, received The Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nursing. Social worker Tammy Smith, MSW, of Monroe earned The ROSE Award for Outstanding Service and Excellence. She works in ICU and obstetrics. The Daisy Award is part of the Daisy Foundation’s mission to recognize “extraordinary, compassionate nursing care provided to patients and families every day,” said ProMedica. Laymen’s nominator said, “We had a patient that delivered a stillborn baby. Erin put together a memorial package complete with photos of the baby, footprints, a blanket and a lock of hair so the family could remember their child. Erin goes way above and beyond her duties as a nurse; she is an angel on this Earth.” ....
