UDHAMPUR, July 24: A portion of Birwan bridge on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near Supply Morh, Udhampur caved in due to torrential rain today.
Immediately after receiving information about the damage caused to the bridge just closer to first pier at the entry point on Jammu side due to flood and heavy rain, the police and traffic authorities reached the spot. The GREF engineers team also arrived there after some time.
The authorities then suspended the movement of heavy vehicles over this bridge sensing trouble. The BRO team has launched restoration work. ....
