COVID-19 surge in Pune: Educational institutions in Pimpri Chinchwad to remain closed till April 30

In the wake of rising COVID-19 cases in the Pune district, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has issued new circular directing closure of educational institutions within its limits.
However, the civic body has exempted classes for Standard 10, 12. Apart from them, the classes for MPSC and UPSC can also be conducted with 50 percent capacity.

Pune district in Maharashtra reported 8,605 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, its biggest one-day surge in the number of infections since the outbreak of the pandemic, a health official said.
It pushed this western Maharashtra district's overall tally to 5,34,411, he said.
