MOSCOW: Russia on Saturday (Apr 6) said it had evacuated almost 4,500 people in the Orenburg region in the southern Urals due to flooding after a dam burst. Emergency services worked through the night after a dam burst in the city of Orsk, near the border with Kazakhstan, on Friday.
As of Saturday morning, the level of the Ural river was nearly double the level the dam was designed to handle, according to regional authorities. | World News
The dam broke in the city of Orsk in the Orenburg region, less than 20 kilometres (12.4 miles) north of the border with Kazakhstan, the mayor said.
