The national transporter is executing the extremely challenging Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramula Rail link Project, also called the USBRL in Jammu & Kashmir. The last 111 kilometres long stretch of the USBRL project includes the crucial Chenab river bridge - the world’s highest railway bridge, and the Anji Khad bridge which is Indian Railways’ first cable-stayed bridge. The USBRL project is aimed at providing seamless and hassle-free connectivity to Kashmir Valley. The 272 km-long USBRL project was declared a National Project in 2002 and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
