Syracuse starting quarterback Garrett Shrader was ruled out of tonight’s game against Boston College due to an injury suffered against Virginia Tech last Thursday. Shrader is 123 for 197 on the season with 1,508 yards, nine touchdowns and five interceptions.
North Carolina wanted to avoid late-game drama and that wasn’t a problem Saturday afternoon. Drake Maye threw two of his four touchdown passes to Tez Walker, Omarion Hampton ran for two touchdowns and the Tar Heels shed a two-game losing streak by beating Campbell 59-7. Hampton gained 144 rushing yards on 15 carries and North Carolina’s much-maligned defense shined at times.
Turlock scored 28 unanswered second-half points.
Quarterback Jayden Daniels and LSU's offense have been rolling up huge numbers this season, even in defeat. The points and yards haven't come so easily for Jalen Milroe and Alabama, but the wins have been coming just the same. Daniels leads the nation's top offense into Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday night when the eighth-ranked Crimson TIde (7-1, 5-0, No. 8 CFP ) host the 13th-ranked Tigers (6-2, 4-1, No. 14 CFP).
Lately, however, the No. 18 Utes have shown some cracks on that side of the ball. Utah (6-2, 3-2 Pac-12, No. 18 in CFP) enters Saturday’s showdown with Arizona State having allowed 33.5 points and 395.5 yards over its last two games. The Utes have showed a sudden vulnerability in run defense during that stretch, yielding 287 combined rushing yards to USC and Oregon.
