After Gov. John Bel Edwards lifted Louisiana s mask mandate for most places, changes are being announced in Rapides Parish.
The Rapides Parish Police Jury announced Wednesday that people no longer would be required to wear masks to enter parish-owned buildings or facilities. The announcement said people still may voluntarily wear them, and social distancing still is encouraged.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, just 22 percent of adults in Rapides have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
People still must wear masks in early childhood education facilities, schools, colleges and universities, healthcare facilities, nursing homes, public transit vehicles and state government buildings under Edwards new order.
