Meet George Forsyth - the ex-Dortmund goalkeeper, businessman and playboy aiming to be Peru's next president

The son of Peruvian diplomat and politician Harold Forsyth and ex-Miss Chile Veronica Sommer, Forsyth was born in Venezuela in 1982 while his father worked in Peru's embassy.
Later, the family would move to Canada and Germany due to Forsyth Sr.'s ambassadorial duties, only permanently settling in Peru around the time of George's 10th birthday.
Nicknamed 'Ken' for his supposed resemblance to Barbie's plastic paramour, Forsyth quickly rose through the ranks of Alianza Lima, based in the tough district of La Victoria on the north side of Peru's capital. That was a world apart from the sheltered, privileged existence he had enjoyed growing up.

The political parties that will participate in Peru's general elections scheduled for April 11 this year have outlined the actions that they intend to implement —as part of their government plan— if they gain voters' support at the polls.
Their government plans are contained in the election platform of the National Elections Board (JNE) and are also available here.
To date, 14 presidential lists are in the race. The list led by Nidia Vilchez is not included, since the political party (Partido Aprista Peruano) announced its withdrawal.
In the coming days, the National Elections Board (JNE) will decide the electoral fate of Hernando de Soto (Avanza Pais), George Forsyth (Victoria Nacional), and Daniel Urresti (Podemos Peru), taking into consideration petitions for disqualifications filed against them.

Lima, Dec 13 (Prensa Latina) The percentage of Peruvians who do not support any of the 23 presidential candidates for the April 11, 2021, general elections, plus the undecided, exceeds by far the support of the most popular candidate, according to a private survey released on Sunday.
In the poll conducted by the Ipsos-Peru company, 18 percent of respondents said they would vote blank or spoil the ballot in the April 11 general elections. The undecided make up 10 percent for a total of 28 percent, 10 more than the candidate with the largerst preference, the neo-liberal former soccer player George Forsyth, from the Victoria Nacional party.
