Significant expansion proposed for Eye on the Street camera system

THUNDER BAY  If city council approves a proposal from the Thunder Bay Police Service and city administration, the Eye on the Street camera system will receive new equipment and expand to multiple new locations around the city.
The community safety initiative was implemented in 2005, and currently includes closed-circuit video monitoring at 13 locations in the downtown cores and Business Improvement Areas.
Now, more than 40 potential locations have been identified as high value for live monitoring and continuous recording in consultation with the TBPS Criminal Investigations Branch and the City of Thunder Bay s Crime Prevention Council. ....
