YOUNGSTOWN — The boy injured by a gunshot in the Victory Estates apartments got hold of his parent’s pistol and accidentally shot himself but is in stable condition at Akron Children’s Hospital, Capt. Jason Simon said Tuesday. The boy is 3, and the police department is investigating to determine whether anyone will be charged, he said. The incident happened about 1:50 p.m. Monday in his home on McBride Street on the East Side. YOUNGSTOWN — Police tonight are investigating the second shooting of the day. Police were dispatached about 8 p.m. to the 500 block of Lee Avenue where a person had been wounded in the leg by gunfire. Police declined to offer any details on the shooting. YOUNGSTOWN — A McBride Street man got the seven to nine years in prison Monday that prosecutors recommended for a shooting near an apartment in the Victory Estates complex June 2. Roderick A. Weaver, 28, was sentenced by Judge R. Scott Krichbaum after Weaver pleaded guilty in October to felonious assault, a gun specification, and a specification of being a repeat violent offender for an earlier burglary. Youngstown police said a woman told police she heard gunfire and found a bullet hole under her steps in the 600 block of the Victory Estates apartments on the East Side. No one was injured....
