Bayonne council continues shared services agreement for health officer with WNY
The agreement allows Health Officer Michele O Reilly to serve both Bayonne and WNY ×
Bayonne Health Officer Michele O Reilly gave a COVID-19 update in February of 2021.
The Bayonne City Council has approved a resolution continuing its shared services agreement for a health officer with West New York for another year. Currently, Michele O’Reilly serves as health officer for both municipalities.
The council voted unanimously to advance the measure at its July meeting.
Sharing services
The move first came in June 2020 after West New York ended its shared services agreement with North Bergen amid the COVID-19 pandemic. West New York and North Bergen first penned the agreement in 2018, after West New York abolished its health department as part of what town officials at the time had dubbed money saving efforts.

COVID-19 vaccines are being distributed across North Hudson, most recently in Secaucus and West New York.
Sleeves up in Secaucus
Secaucus began administering COVID-19 vaccines at its municipal Vaccination Point of Distribution (POD) on Dec. 30. A very limited batch of Moderna vaccines were administered to healthcare workers and emergency personnel working at the town’s Vaccination POD, a trailer and heated tent outside the Recreation Center.
