Carboy Winery, the fast-growing wine business founded on the Front Range, is expanding to its fourth location in the state after purchasing Mount Garfield Estate in Palisade. It’s not quite springtime in Napa Valley, but the grapevines in the Carneros appellation don’t seem to know that. A number of vineyards in the region, one of the southernmost in Napa Valley, have experienced the onset of bud break, Hyde Vineyards General Manager Chris Hyde confirmed in a press release from the Napa Valley Grapegrowers. Napa County will develop rules to allow micro-wineries to offer wine tasting

After more than two years of trying, Save the Family Farms has convinced Napa County to take up the issue of micro-wineries, which amount to a more mom-and-pop approach to the wine world. The county will consider allowing farms making small amounts of wines to host tastings without building a winery, perhaps at a table overlooking a vineyard. A proposed law could be ready by August. Gallo sues St. Helena's Long Meadow Ranch over breach of wine grape contract

Gallo Vineyards has sued Long Meadow Ranch Wine Estates over the St. Helena-based producer’s alleged inability to fulfill its end of a two-year grape contract, according to a complaint filed at the end of January in Napa County Superior Court. This lawsuit marks the second time Gallo Vineyards, a subsidiary of the world’s largest winery E & J Gallo Winery, has taken legal action against Long Meadow Ranch Wine Estates.
