The Take-It-Back Movement led by human rights activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore, has said it will be directing its members in Lagos State to occupy the Area F Police Command, Ikeja, should the police refuse to free journalist Agba Jalingo. Jalingo had been reportedly detained at the Alapere Police Station before his transfer to the Area Command. The wife of the activist, Violet Agba, who confirmed the development, added that the police planned to transfer the activist to Abuja on Saturday morning.

The Rule of Law And Accountability Advocacy Centre (RULAAC) has condemned the unlawful detention of a Nigerian journalist and activist, Agba Jalingo, by the Nigerian Police on Friday. The group made this known in a release on Saturday by the Executive Director, Okechukwu Nwanguma, stating that an allegation of defamation should not justify the manner in which the operatives of the Nigerian Police invaded his residence and held him in detention.
