A day before introducing the bill in Lok Sabha, Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured Gujjars and Bakerwals that their reservation will stay intact and Pahari-speaking will get a separate quota.
The first bill aims to empower the lieutenant governor to nominate two members from the Kashmiri migrant community, including a woman, and one member from the displaced persons of PoJK to the assembly. The second and third bills pertain to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in J&K, with the aim of including the Valmiki community in the list of Scheduled Castes and revising the list of Scheduled Tribes in Jammu and Kashmir.
