Eid-Al-Adha: Despite the occasion of Bakra Eid being marked on calendars, High Courts often receive pleas regarding animal sacrifices a day before the festival
'Bakri Eid has been on the calendar for the better part of the year,' the Bombay HC told a petitioner on Wednesday.
The courts stated that despite knowing the likely dates of Eid al-Adha well in advance, applications related to animal slaughter were filed a day prior to the festival.
The existing law mandates that anyone wanting to sacrifice an animal in a public other than the designated spots needs permission from the authorities. | Mumbai news
