A Bengaluru resident submitted an application to the CEC apprising it that there has been a degradation of the ESZ of Bannerghatta National Park primarily driven by industries and real estate developers for their projects.
A Bengaluru-based NGO, had written an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking for his intervention in saving the elephant corridor of Bannerghatta National Park.
Vishnu Narain, the managing trustee of the NGO, said the reduced ESZ not only eliminated areas which were crucial for the movement of elephants, it also endangered the wildlife population.
