Anointment ceremony begins at Shiroor Mutt

A four-day ceremony to anoint Anirudha Saralathaya as the seer of the Shiroor Mutt began on Tuesday with rituals being conducted at the moola mutt in Shiroor in Udupi district.
According to a press release from Shiroor Mutt, seer-designate was offered fruits and he took part in various homas, including Gana Homa and Dhanvantari Homa, on Tuesday.
He also performed some rituals, which are to be performed before his anointment. The homas and rituals were performed in the presence of Sode Vadiraj Mutt seer Vishwavallabha Tirtha.
Avadhani Subrahmanya Bhat and Vidwan Giriraj Acharya conducted the homas and rituals. Parents of seer-designate Vidya and Udaykumar Saralathaya were present, the release said.
Aniruddha, a Class 10 student, is the son of Dr M Uday Kumar Saralatthaya and Shrividya and is learned to have studied the Vedas from his father.
UDUPI: Sixteen-year-old Aniruddha Saralatthaya of Nidle village in Dharmasthala has been named the 31st head of Shiroor Mutt, one of the eight (Ashta) Madhwa mutts of Udupi.
Between May 11 and May 14, he will be given Sanyasa Deekshe and Pattabhisheka ceremony will be held at Sonda Kshetra in Sirsi, Uttara Kannada.

UDUPI: The three-year suspense over who will succeed Udupi s Shiroor Mutt will be over on Wednesday when the seer heading the Sode Vadiraja mutt will announce the name of the suitable ‘vatu’ (bachelor) to replace Sri Lakshmivara Tirtha, who passed away without appointing his successor on July 19, 2018.
The vatu has already been chosen and reportedly hails from Nidle near Dharmasthala.
He has been undergoing training from the past two years in mastering scriptures and will take over the reins of Shiroor mutt during the Ramanavami period.
