The NC leader said that the situation in the country is nothing better than anything better than an emergency. “The only difference is that Indira Gandhi had courage to call it an emergency but these days the situation is similar but it is not mentioned so. How much freedom do journalists enjoy? How many of you have been summoned to police stations?” said Abdullah adding, “No leader was arrested before elections after the emergency. Today every opposition leader who BJP sees as a threat is being arrested by some agency.”
Interestingly not even a single Lok Sabha seat has been allotted to the PDP as per seat adjustment but the Congress said that the party (PDP) is still part of the coalition.
