Pōneke metal titans Beastwars have announced regional supports for their forthcoming nationwide tour, celebrating the 10th anniversary of their paradigm shifting 2011 self-titled debut album. Playing with heavy psych duo Earth Tongue for all dates of the tour, Beastwars will be joined on their riff-fuelled odyssey across Aotearoa by Threat.Meet.Protocol, Deranger, wrapping up at their hometown s Hunter Lounge with (appropriately enough) End Boss. Long out of print and now changing hands amongst collectors for absurd sums, Beastwars debut album is at last being reissued on vinyl for the first time in seven years in freshly remastered form. Ballentyne’s actions forced several vehicles to change direction and swerve around him, causing drivers to lose focus and endanger other road users and members of the public walking nearby. He was located a short time later, and required several police officers to take him into custody due to his “volatile and aggressive behaviour”. When spoken to by police at the time Ballentyne said he didn’t have an excuse for his actions, but lawyer Rob Ord said the situation had been sparked by a communication breakdown. Ord said Ballentyne, who had been staying at the Wakatu Hotel, had been to visit a next door neighbour where they had been drinking for a few hours. ....

The Pōneke team of Matt Hyde, James Woods and Clayton Anderson s earth-shaking 2011 record was recognised as an instant classic in the hallowed halls of Aotearoa heavy metal upon launching, earning a shortlist nomination for the Taite Music Prize, a Tui award for Nick Keller s infernal album artwork, and legions of riff-worshipping fans for such anthems as Damn the Sky , Lake of Fire and Iron Wolf .
