Jamel Herring, Shakur Stevenson in advanced talks for 130-pound title fight
Jamel Herring and Shakur Stevenson are in advanced talks for a 130-pound title fight that would be staged in the fourth quarter of 2021 on ESPN/ESPN+, both boxers told ESPN.
Herring (23-2, 11 KOs) successfully defended his 130-pound title for a third time in April with a career-best performance, a sixth-round TKO of Carl Frampton in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Stevenson, a former 126-pound titleholder now campaigning at 130 pounds, outpointed Jeremiah Nakathila last month in Las Vegas.
One possible location for the bout is Atlanta, where Gervonta Davis has proved to be a box-office draw.
