Upper Hutt Menzshed searches for new home base as workshop makes way for housing

The group s secretary, Tony Murdoch,​ said initially members expected to be able to stay at the site for another two years, but about two months ago they were told they d have to pack their bags much sooner. He did not know who was building the new development.
While the club hopes to eventually lease land from the Upper Hutt City Council at McLeod Park and construct a 375sqm purpose-built shed there, the 78-year-old said that process could take 18 months and cost $250,000, which the organisation would have to seek through fundraising.
