PONTOTOC • Voters in Pontotoc have elected Jimma Smith and Joe DiDonna to the city's board of aldermen in Tuesday's runoff primary election runoffs. Unofficial results released Tuesday night show Smith defeating opponent Kevin Purdon in the race for the seat as Ward Two alderman by winning 67% of the total ballots cast, or 137 votes to Purdon's 67.  In the Ward Three, DiDonna defeated incumbent Dennis R. April 6, 2021 The City of Galesburg will see a new leadership after last night’s election. Fifth Ward Alderman and Knox Professor Peter Schwartzman defeated incumbent John Pritchard to become the new mayor of Galesburg. Schwartzman brought in nearly 47 percent of the vote while Pritchard received about 41 percent. The third runner in the race, Kristine Crow, took in only 12 percent of the vote. Ward Four Council Representative, Steve Keszler has resigned from the Sturgis City Council effective February 16. Individuals living in Ward Four who are interested in serving in this position for the next year are asked to fill out an application and return it to the Sturgis Finance Office at Sturgis City Hall by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26.
