Posted On December 30, 2020 The Mathews/Ware Neck Audubon Bird Count will be held Sunday. Precautions are in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, said coordinator Joyce McKelvey. From before dawn until dusk, birders will enumerate all the species they see within a circle with a 15-mile diameter. The Mathews count, which takes in a small area in Ware Neck, was established in 1969 by the late Mary Pulley. It is part of the 121st annual Audubon Christmas Bird Count.
