Why I recommend voting for Jerry Henderson for SJC Fire Protection District #3 Commissioner:

The Journal sat down with the San Juan Fire District 3 Commissioner candidates Warren Appleton and Jerry Henderson to ask them why they wanted to run, and some perspectives on the direction of the Fire District. Note: the comments have been edited for length and clarity. The general election will take place Nov. 7.

I am voting for Warren Appleton because we need some changes in Fire District 3. During the last few months, I have had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with Warren at various events on the island. I can tell that Warren cares deeply for our island community. I believe that Warren will help the department work better with each other and help the department work with our community in even better ways.

We are supporting Warren Appleton for Fire Commissioner.

I’m supporting Warren Appleton for SJI Fire District Commissioner. I’ve been concerned for some time that fire is not tending to its primary purpose and adapting to the changing realities of rural fires. Warren gets it that different thinking is needed. He also shares my concern about lack of transparency under the current chief.
