Step forward towards 'fabulous' new school building 'fit for modern learning' MULTI-MILLION-pound plans for a new academy in Bearsden are a step closer to construction after the terms were agreed with contractors. William Howard School Thousands of children enjoyed a traditional Christmas treat with their friends to mark the end of a school year like no other. Businesses across Cumbria stepped forward to support the festive initiative to provide a free lunch with all the trimmings, hats and crackers for children at the 11 schools within Cumbria Education Trust. AN important milestone has been reached in the £25m project to redevelop a sport and entertainment venue. Demolition is set to start on part of the existing Sands Centre building in Carlisle to make way for improved facilities including a new swimming pool.
