BRANDON, Miss. (AP) — Two Mississippi police officers were shot and one died Thursday during a standoff that started as a hostage situation in a home, the state Department of Public Safety said. BRANDON, Miss. (AP) — An intruder who went into a Mississippi home armed with three guns and wearing a bulletproof vest took a woman hostage and later shot two police officers, killing one and wounding the other during an eight-hour standoff Thursday that ended in his death, police said.
Brandon police Chief Wayne Dearman said the incident began about 1:45 a.m. Thursday when police received a call about a domestic incident at a home. There were two women inside, who told officers the male suspect was wearing armor and armed with a rifle.
