In a game that came down to the wire, the Carroll Tigers were unable to come back and win on Saturday against Winterset. The day for the Tigers started off slower than they would have liked it, unable to get shots to fall for them. Winterset used the Tigers’ slow start to go up 12-2 in the first quarter and end up at 31-20 at halftime.
The second half for the Tigers was much improved as they started to chip away at the Huskies lead. The Tigers would go on a 9-4 run to start the third quarter and would end up down three at 38-35. Kennedy Lein and Gabi Hammer were the two taking charge and attacking the basket against Jena Young for Winterset in the third to get them down three heading into the fourth quarter. The Tigers had the chance to take back the lead in the fourth quarter, being down by one point multiple times. The Carroll Tigers continued their dominant ways by adding another victory to their undefeated season, beating Boone on Tuesday night. Right out of the gate, the Tigers dominated the Toreadors and never gave up the lead. The Tigers would escape the first quarter scoring 20 points and left Boone with only seven points. In the second quarter, it was much of the same dominant basketball from the top ranked team in the Raccoon River Conference. The Tigers left no room for the Toreadors to score leaving them with six points as they would go on to score 14 before the halftime.
