Heaton Park is the biggest park in Manchester and the largest municipal park in Europe. It has a Grade I listed, 18th-century country house called Heaton Hall, playgrounds and a farm. It is home to the Manchester Beekeepers Association. Oasis and The Stone Roses have played concerts in the park. It also has the only flat bowling greens in Manchester - which were built for the 2002 Commonwealth Games.

Pregnant Lisa Marie Kierans just about made it to the hospital and no more before running out of steam... well, before her car did to be exact! Her partner Peter Lambe couldn’t find a point to charge their electric car that day, and they barely made it to the Lourdes before the car battery ran out! ‘There was a bit of choice language used that day alright,’ says Lisa Marie with a laugh. ‘One of the charging points was busy and the others were out of order, so we had to take our chances, and thankfully we made it!’
