Asheboro girls reach 3A title with 54-44 win at Northwood Tags: By Joel Bryant, HighSchoolOT reporter Pittsboro, N.C. — The Asheboro Blue Comets' girls basketball team won the 3A Eastern Regional Final at Northwood High School over the host Chargers on Tuesday night. The Blue Comets never trailed during the game and won 54-44. Asheboro got off to a hot start. Senior shooting guard Ashton Maness hit two early 3-pointers to help Asheboro out to a 9-2 lead within a couple of minutes. Maness went on to finish the game with 13 points.
