​As Mizos gear up for polls, focus on Manipur effect, drug menace, joblessness
The Manipur ethnic clashes will have ramifications in the Mizoram polls. Around 13,000 people from Manipur have taken shelter in Mizoram. These people, belonging to the Kuki-Zomi-Hmar community, share the same ethnicity as the people of Mizoram. In Manipur, ten tribal MLAs, including 7 belonging to BJP, and various tribal organisations, including the Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum and Kuki Inpi Manipur, have been demanding a separate administration (equivalent to a state) for the tribals since May 12.
