A 34-year-old man has been charged following a serious assault on a pensioner in Cheshire. Daniel McAdams was arrested at his home in Moorside Court, Widnes, at about 4.20pm on Monday, February 1. He has since been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent. The branch on Widnes Road in the town centre was raided shortly after 5pm on Monday, December 14. A 38-year-old man suffered minor injuries during the altercation. Enquiries into the incident are ‘ongoing’, with a 52-year-old man – from Widnes – who was arrested in connection with the incident having been released under investigation. Warrington Road will be closed westbound between 7pm and 1am from Monday, January 25. The road will be closed in sections from Liverpool Road to Greystone Road and from Warrington Road for 50 metres along the following lengths of road, Grange Drive; Clifford Lane; Inglenook Road; Hall Nook. Access will be under the control of the relevant contractor for the duration of the works. The alternative route will be via Sankey Way, Liverpool Road, Stocks Lane, Farnworth Road, Widnes Road and vice versa. The restrictions are required for carriageway surfacing.
