Detectives in Kenya are holding two Nigerians for allegedly murdering and dismembering Rita Waeni, a 20-year-old student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in an apartment. It was learnt that the discovery of Waeni’s head, covered in a sack and wrapped in a purple blouse, sent shockwaves through the community and intensified the search for her killers, according to Kenya’s The Nation Media Group. The arrested Nigerians who were identified as William Opia and Johnbull Asbor, were reportedly living illegally in Kenya.
William Opia, a suspect linked to the gruesome killing of Rita Waeni, told police officers that he had bought a sharp hatchet found in his house, for self-defense.
Former Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss George Kinoti is credited with the formation of the special Criminal Research and Intelligence Bureau.
