Illinois Senate passes police reform bill SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Early Wednesday morning, the Illinois Senate passed House Bill 3653, formerly House Bill 163, a criminal justice reform proposal. State Sen. Win Stoller, (R-Germantown Hills), voted no, saying, “What we witnessed in the middle of the night is not the way democracy is supposed to work. Nearly 800 pages of new language landed on our desks and within an hour we voted on it at 4:48 a.m.” Stoller said the bill, pushed through by Democrats, would have profound consequences for the people of Illinois, making life unsafe for them. ...
