It s more exciting for me, i guarantee. than you with your star studded history. i don t think that s true. you were sitting there through that long windup. and i felt like it was really important to context uallize what is happening in this midterm election cycle amid the, you know, hectic frenetic pace of campaigns. there is snag is at the core of a lot of the campaigning that we re seeing. i wonder if any of this, whether any of that surprises you at this point. no. when i look at the buildup towards an election, especially in america and time when people are struggling to make ends meet and people are struggling to pay for groceries, when people are wondering whether the next paycheck will be enough to live ....

Pretty much an open and shut case. and maybe, just maybe, that is the consensus, at least among legal experts on both sides of the ideological divide that makes this makes this a little more possible for the justice department to move forward with charges, without them being blasted as being political by both side by one side or the other. at this point, as barbara said, a very long windup here just to say, i agree with barbara. donald trump has gimp merrick garland no choice but to bring charges against him in this case. yeah. charges against the former president would be unprecedented. but the more it s talked about the more it injects in the bloodstream of the national consciousness. it becomes normalized. it becomes a little less ....

These documents and the high level classification and the fact that now we are learning what at least some of the documents were about, just to underscore the reason why they had to take this investigative step. andrew, what do you think about that? i think that is absolutely right. i think the seriousness of the documents, it eliminates any question about whether or not the department and the fbi actually had to go in with a seven, which you ll recall at the time was perceived as this overly aggressive move that was taken, you know, kind of out of the blue without any sort of appropriate windup. of course, we now know that is not true. we know the parties were not negotiating in good faith. we know that the folks on the trump team were misleading the government, apparently, at several points in the exchange. they had resisted the return of these documents for, you know, basically a year and a half knowing what was in there. ....

Buckets of information. procedural one is the windup, the back and forth between the national archives and mr. trump s lawyers, trying to get ahold of documents that belong to the government, but that mr. trump had retained. right? all of that procedural history, why the government is interested, i think, is stuff we ll probably see in some detail. and it will confirm a lot of what we have already known from good public reporting, like katie benner s. the second part of the affidavit, the second bucket is the more interesting thing. that s the investigation itself. the basis for probable cause. why the government believed that a federal crime had been committed and why the government believed that they would find evidence of that federal crime at mar-a-lago. i don t think we re going to get very much of that. i would be very surprised if there was any detail with respect to witnesses or to investigative methods or techniques to uncharged conduct and the like. the judge has made it pret ....
