Sport Dennis Newlyn Premium Content Subscriber only Daniel Sayre raced to a convincing win in the 25-lap Wingless Sprintcar feature race at Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway, Saturday night, January 16. He was followed to the chequered flag by Jamie Usher and Errol Campbell. Sayre had an untroubled run after starting at the front of the field and always looked in command as he reeled off some impressive laps with a 91.504 km/h speed average. ....
Fans were kept on their toes, by all the high octane drama… Dave Putsey’s vehicle bursting into flames during the street stock race… During the main event, Daniel Sayre led the pack in the 25-lap Wingless Sprintcar feature… He was followed closely by Jamie Usher towards the end. But Sayre hit full throttle, crossing the finish line in first. Racers are now gearing up for the annual Grand Prix on January 24, which will form part of the Australia Day fixture. Castrol Edge Lismore Speedway promoter David Lander announced that Production Sedans have been added to the starting line-up program for January 16. Lander said although there was initially some uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 situation, the good news early this week confirms next Saturday night s fixture, which will also feature the running of the Junior Sedan Nationals. He said being given the green light to running an expanded race card was sensational news. We are definitely running and that s the best piece of news I can pass on today, Lander said. ....
Premium Content Subscriber only After a track inspection this morning, wet weather has seen Lismore Speedway put the brakes on its popular Monster Truck Show planned for New Year s night. Lismore Speedway promoter David Lander said the rain had left them little choice. Due to a downpour of rain this morning, we have made a decision to cancel tonight s monster truck show, he said. The new date is set for the April 10, which is in the middle of the of the New South Wales and Queensland school holidays. Mr Lander said overnight rain left the grassed spectator areas saturated. It s just too wet to have people sitting on the grass and the general access and pit areas also have been affected by the wet weather, he said. ....
