Free highway and heavy construction training starts June 1 in Rochester

Rochester and DMC projects are subject to the state's workforce goals for women and minorities. It has been challenging for local contractors to meet the goal for women -- 7 percent in 2021-- especially on highway and heavy construction projects, because of a lack of trained workers. Classes begin June 1 and run from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily through June 25.
