Joining me now from orlando, nbc news correspondent kerry sanders. kerry, thank you very much for joining me tonight. reporter: absolutely. and a lot of people, after hearing those facts, may be wondering why is this trial then getting so much attention? there is a 31-day period in these events that have drawn people s attention. little caylee disappeared. at the time they didn t know whether she had been taken by a nanny, as her mother claimed, or what. but for 31 days, casey said nothing to anybody about her daughter being gone. now, you know how most parents would react if their children were gone for just minutes. and so for 31 day says hs, complete silence. then when she finally spoke up, she said a nanny had taken her child. that story has been obliterated. in fact, the defense has even said it was all made up and that young caylee died. and so you have the prosecution ....
That somehow maybe somebody else put on shorts that were too small on to caylee, but it is important to note that the prosecution in cross-examination today said those shorts would not have fit if she was wearing diapers, but if the she didn t have diapers on, maybe those shorts would have fit. so, i think that there is a sort of nebulous area there, but more importantly is why was caylee s remains, why were caylee s remains found with those shorts in the woods if those are shorts that she had not worn for some time, because she had outgrown them. stay with us, because i want to come back to jami floyd for a moment, because what do you think of the way that the defense is laying tout narrative that here is a child who may have been capable independently of exiting the house, negotiating the ladder which is right next to the south door pool, and there it is that the defense claim is how she died. have they been effective in laying that down? well, this part of the case in my view ha ....
