Bengaluru will observe a unique celestial event today called ‘Zero Shadow Day’. For a brief period of time on April 25, vertical objects in the city will not cast a shadow.
The Astronomical Society of India mentioned that the phenomenon takes place between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn twice a year.
Zero Shadow Day phenomenon occurs when the Sun comes directly above the equator. This leads to the Sun rays falling perpendicular to the Earth’s surface.
If there is a vertical reference such as a pole, at 12:17 pm Sun will be overhead and as a result, there will be no shadow of the reference pole
The rare phenomenon will take place at 12:17 pm.
