Muslims to celebrate Eid al-Fitr Saturday with special Westbrook event

Read Article WESTBROOK   Muslim families from across Maine have an opportunity to celebrate this  important holiday this Saturday, May 22, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at a “Drive Up” Eid event hosted by New England Arab American Organization.  This event will be held outside at Westbrook Community Center. Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the most sacred time of the Muslim year.  While Ramadan officially ended last Thursday, many Maine Muslims look forward each year to NEAAO’s celebration.  “Families celebrate in their homes but still want to feel part of the larger community,” says Zoe Sahloul, executive director of NEAAO.  “They know they will experience all the joy and cultural pride this important occasion inspires by sharing it with others outside their immediate family.”  NEAAO has hosted an annual Eid al-Fitr celebration since its founding in 2016.
