Non-FASTag Vehicles To Pay Twice the Toll Fees At National Highways From 15th February

Vehicles passing through NH toll plazas and not having FASTag onboard will have to cough up twice the toll fee from the midnight of February 15-16,

The Union Road and Transport ministry declared in an order, âIt has been decided that all the lanes in the fee plazas on National Highways shall be declared as FASTag lane of the fee plaza w.e.f. midnight of 15th /16th February 2021.â
FASTags have been made mandatory for all motor vehicles from 1 January 2021 onward. The ministry added, âTherefore, as per NH Fee Rules 2008, any vehicle not fitted with FASTag or vehicle without valid, functional âFASTag entering into the FASTag lane of the fee plaza shall pay a fee equivalent to two times of the fee applicable to that category.â ....

New Delhi: Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Sunday said the deadline for the implementation of FASTag would not be extended further, and the vehicle owners should immediately adopt the e-payment facility.
The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) on Sunday clarified that this has been done to further promote fee payment through digital mode, reduce waiting time and fuel consumption, and provide for a seamless passage through the fee plazas. ....

Replying to a query on FASTags at the Nagpur airport, Gadkari said the government had extended FASTag registration date limit two-three times before; and now, it would not be extended further. Now, everybody should immediately buy FASTag.

FASTags, which facilitate electronic payment of fee at toll plazas, was introduced in 2016. Making the tags compulsory would also help in ensuring that vehicles pass seamlessly through the toll plazas, as the fee payment would be done electronically. ....

No FASTag? Pay twice the amount on highway toll plazas after Feb 15

Any vehicle that passes through national highway toll plazas after February 15 must pay twice the charges if it does not have a FASTag, the ministry of road transport and highways said in an order on Sunday.
Vehicles not fitted with FASTag or vehicles without valid, functional FASTag entering the FASTag lane of the fee plaza shall pay a fee equivalent to two times of the fee applicable to that category, the ministry said.
The ministry has decided that all lanes in the toll plazas on national highways shall be declared as “FASTag lane of the fee plaza” with effect from midnight of February 15-16. ....
