Former Fijian 7s forward Josateki Turuva Saukuru Toga (fondly known as Jo Toga) has passed away at the age of 61.
His younger brother, Sinukula Toga, said yesterday that Jo died after a long illness at the Westmead Hospital in Sydney, Australia on March 9 around 8am.
“Back then when we were growing up (in Saunaka Village) there was a great challenge for us to play rugby and to wear the Fijian jumper,” ....

Bucalevu Secondary school athletics team is adamant of positive results at this year’s Coca-Cola games in Suva.
Team manager Litia Baia said they have a total of 28 athletes and this was the biggest squad the school has ever sent to any Fiji Finals competition.
“We are using this trip as an exposure for students as some of them will be going for the first time,” Baia said.
“We are also positive of achieving good results as well because our team won the Taveuni Zone.” ....

Natabua High School will be fielding one of the largest contingents in the 2021 Coca-Cola Games this week at Suva’s ANZ Stadium.
About 100 athletes will be carrying the hopes of the Western Division giants.
“We will be taking a 100-strong athletics squad and it has been one of the largest contingents that we have taken to participate at the Fiji Finals,” said school principal Virendra Sharma.
“Although it is an inexperienced squad compared to yesteryears, the coaches have done their best to ensure the athletes give their 100 per cent. ....

A strong 60-member athletics squad from Adi Cakobau School participated in a friendly West Athletics meet on Saturday at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
ACS athletics head coach Antonio Raboiliku said the reason for their participation was conditioning.
“The western schools are more prone to the heat and they enjoy that advantage,” Raboiliku said.
“We are used to the wet weather conditions in Suva and the sole intention for our participation today (Saturday) was to get used to the humid conditions experienced in the West.” ....
